     In addition to being city historian and freelance writing for The Daily Star, Mark is currently an adjunct teacher at SUNY Oneonta and a seasonal museum interpreter at The Farmers Museum in Cooperstown. Mark is available for speaking engagements with local organizations as his schedule permits, upon request.


     Prior to returning to Oneonta, Simonson had an extensive career in public relations, marketing, and broadcast journalism.

  Mark earned an A.A.S. degree in Broadcast Management from Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, as well as a B.S. degree in Business Administration from SUNY College at Oswego.

     Simonson is a former radio news director at WKXZ/WCHN in Norwich, as well as WMRV/WENE in Endicott. He was a highly successful fund raiser and marketing specialist at such non-profits as the South Central New York Chapter of the March of Dimes, The American Heart Association, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Massachusetts Chapter, and more recently with The West Kortright Centre and Hanford Mills Museum.
